Right, it is pricey...both the regular and the deluxe (it is strictly a different binding, nothing different on the inside at all. Cloth vs leather) But if you're interested in historical context and how to really understand just what country of origin is...not just a modern day, western (and Arabian!)elitist kind of marketing term...to begin to see Saluqi, rather than many breeds, several breed types, if you love historical photos, see the original imports and how they have contributed to the dogs we have now...IF you want a book that will take you years to digest, and have as a forever reference...then it is a bargain buy. then again...times are tough everywhere...better to put your money in life with the dogs right in front of you. When economics are better, and you're looking for a great gift for yourself, this would be my choice. ov

I have the regular, got it 12 years ago - it is THE Saluki Bible. Expensive, but worth it if you can raise the money. How about asking friends to give it to you as a Christmas present? ;) That's how I got it, friends and family bought it together when I told them if they wanted to give me something, why not buy one gift together. It was my Christmas present and birthday gift, combined, from everyone that year :)
